Ignoring the old-school sales page, discounts and attempts at upselling/cross-selling etc you eventually get to purchase the software. Usually that would put me off, I’ve seen it on other sites while looking at purchasing data (especially the greyhound cards data) and I really hate that style of sales copy, but regardless, I purchased.
Once initial emails received, setting up account etc, you can get onto installing the software (for the “auto” version) which was painless, and then configuring it. I’ve stuck to the basic settings suggested, nothing changed. I’ve also tweaked a few of the main settings that the instructions dont mention but overall my settings look like this.

You can see I limited the software to just placing 2 bets (max) per race and 15 bets per bookie (in a day). To start with I’ve only setup two bookies – Bet365 and SkyBet. I’ll add to those once I get time. I’ve also limited the Exchanges to Betfair prices. Note that I am doing “value” betting here so will NOT be laying off the bets in the Exchange. I have restricted it to just comparing against Betfair prices in order to keep some consistency and reduce the number of bets.
Adding the bookies was simple. I was a little cautious about entering my username and password but reassurances that the data is not being shared and just stored and used locally on my machine by the software in order to place bets – no alternative approach really – so went with it.
Then click on “Run” and the application starts loading up the Each Way Sniper page, along with signing into all your bookies. I noted that Bet365 was not signed into directly, instead the software looks to be using attheraces.com quick bet functionality to access that bookie.
The Each Way sniper page is the same page you’d get if you purchased access to the (online only manual) Each Way Sniper.

You can see it is checking “EPV” (Extra Places), auto-refreshing every minute and pulling in just the bookies I’ve set up. The software then places bets according to my settings, and keeps track of them on the “betting log”.

The betting log looks useful, it captures the bets placed, how many places are being paid out (taking advantage of the “EPV” – Extra Place Value), the overall Rating and odds. I am particularly impressed that approximately every hour the software looks to see if any of the bets have concluded and updates their result (win/place/loss) and return. It has appeared to be quite accurate so far, but only a couple of days in and I think I noticed that reductions due to non-runners may not be accurately captured. This data can be output to a spreadsheet but for now, I’m manually transcribing over into my own log.
That’s the setup and running of the software. Its suggested you only run the software for certain hours per day so I’m running it from around 10:30-11:00 in the morning through to around 2ish in the afternoon. I’ve only be up and running for a few days so will keep posting observations in the early days then wait until monthly updates on PL.
